The “Liaofan’s Story” Overseas Exhibitions (Singapore) will take place from 24 September to 3 October 2025 at the Visual Arts Centre Exhibition Gallery, open daily from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
This exhibition highlights the enduring legacy of Yuan Liaofan (1533–1606), a distinguished scholar and official from Jiashan, China. Known as a successor of Wang Yangming’s philosophy, Yuan Liaofan was a leading proponent and practitioner of “the study of goodness.” His influential works have guided countless readers across centuries and remain widely known today.
Through curated texts, images, and cultural displays, the exhibition showcases Yuan’s contributions to philosophy, governance, and morality, including his benevolent administration as county magistrate of Baodi—an exemplary model of local governance in Chinese history.
As a cultural bridge between China and Singapore, this overseas exhibition invites audiences to engage with the profound wisdom of Chinese “culture of goodness” and reflect on its relevance to our modern world.
